Dr. Maggie examined my grandson when he was just days old. She was very informative and thorough. She took great care of my little guy and we decided, although he was not severely tied, it would benefit him in the future to have him released. The healing and stretch were easy. I recommend her to anyone in need.”

When searching for a dental specialist, the first step is to define what you’re looking for – what’s important to you? In most cases, this is some combination of welcoming your insurance, reasonable fees, excellent dentist credentials, high cleanliness and safety standards, and convenient hours.
Additionally, it helps you to know what type of dental care you need. Is it someone to treat a lip or tongue tie for a child or infant? Is the patient an adult? Certain specialists may only treat patients of specific ages.
Finally, it’s important to get a feel for the practice itself. How do they treat their patients? Are they good with children and adults alike?
Once you know what you’re looking for, you can read patient reviews and the doctor and staff biographies on their website. These are great ways to find a dental specialist who meets your established criteria!
Here in the United States, all dentists must earn either a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or a Doctor of Dental Sciences (DDS) from one of the nation’s 67 accredited dental schools.
Acceptance into dental school requires the patient to have earned a bachelor's degree (and very good grades) in a major that’s heavy in both math and the sciences.
Dental school is an additional three to four years, combining classroom and hands-on learning.
Following dental school, some dentists continue their education by earning one of 12 dental specializations recognized by the American Dental Association (ADA). These each require an additional three or more years of dental school training.
After graduation, all dentists are required to complete a certain number of continuing education hours to maintain their license.
Booking an appointment online with a dental specialist is easy. Simply begin by navigating to the “Book Online” button on the top righthand corner of their website.
Then, follow the prompts and select the ones that fit your situation. After filling out each required line, hit the continue button to advance to the next page.
Once completed, you should receive a confirmation call or email from the practice within 24 hours.
If you have any questions or a more complex reason for visiting, it may be easier to call the practice first or book the appointment over the phone.
About one third of all dentists currently working in the United States are women. Interestingly enough, more than half of all current dental school students are female, too!
As for almost anything you’re looking for, checking your favorite search engine with terms like “female dentist near me” will provide accurate and useful results.
You can also visit the “Meet the Dentist” section of a practice’s website to learn all about the dentist, including where she went to school, any professional organizations she belongs to, and even some fun facts about her!
